S100A8 / S100A9（MRP（8/14）是一种钙结合蛋白，由中性粒细胞和单核细胞分泌而成，粪便中S100A8 / S100A9是赘生性和炎症性胃肠疾病的标志物，一般情况下很难区分肠易激综合症和慢性炎症性肠病，所以很多时候会导致广泛和不必要结肠镜检查，而S100A8 / S100A9检测可以使两组患者明确区分。将该标记物与结肠直肠癌的标准粪便潜血筛查进行比较，能够清楚地证明了粪便S100A8 / S100A9测试的诊断优势，该参数具有较高的诊断价值：如果粪便中的S100A8 / S100A9水平较低，则很可能不存在器质性疾病。
